Accurate Geotechnical Construction Material Testing Laboratory (AGC) is committed to provide a healthy and safe workplace for all people at each work location and to protect the environment in accordance with applicable laws and the in-house HSE Policy. It is the policy of the Establishment that its operations are executed at all times in such a way to ensure the health, safety and welfare of the employees and other persons including customers, subcontractors and general public. Our commitment is based on the conviction that most accidents are preventable and that it is the responsibility of each and every employee to ensure that we practice safety as a routine part of our daily work. In order to achieve this objective, we will identify HSE risks arising from our activities and reduce them to as low as is reasonably practicable.
AGC Laboratory has developed this Health and Safety Plan (LHASP) to provide guidance for conducting laboratory activities related to testing and training in a manner that will control the risk to the health and safety of the employee’s faculty, and staff.
The purpose of this LHASP is to define requirements and designate protocols for protecting lab personnel, and the general public during laboratory activities associated with the testing process AGC laboratories. The LHASP presented herein is supplemented by a number of Laboratory Safety Analyses (LSAs) intended to detail procedures for the safe conduct of commonly used laboratory equipment.
All laboratory work will be performed in accordance with the UNC Charlotte-ETCM LHASP standard.
The purpose of this Laboratory Safety Manual is to provide guidance to employees, supervisors, and manager’s information with the goal of preventing human injury and environmental damage from hazardous chemicals, equipment, procedures, and testing methods used in the Accurate Geotechnical Construction Material Testing Laboratory (AGC).
These guidelines and procedures shall be implemented and enforced in Accurate Geotechnical Material Testing Laboratory (AGC), including field construction laboratories. The Laboratory Safety Manual shall be readily available to all laboratory employees. AGC shall review and evaluate the effectiveness of the Laboratory Safety Manual annually and update it as necessary.
AGC will facilitate implementation of HSE Policy by having a Management System. This system aims at continual improvement of HSE performance through definition of roles and responsibilities at all levels in the organization and an efficient communication structure. This HSE Management System is consistent with the all business principles whereby operating companies handle their operations in accordance with instructions and guidance from (AGC).
